A Freddie Mac economist, Fred Nothaft told a crowd of Realtors in Anaheim that the end of the real estate slump will be sooner than later. He told the California Assoc. of Realtors crowd in Anaheim:
"We've got a good 6 to 12 months before we hit that trough in the housing market stats." with a recovery in in 2 to 3 years.
Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., said we may see a recovery starting in early 2009, or just 14 or 15 months from now.

Despite the terrific foreclosure figures last month that showed an 8% decline, it still is a great niche to get yourself involved with. NOD's , Shortsales, and Repos offer tremendous listings and sales possibilities.
I am curious.

Recently I posted an article declaring everyone a liar. The premise was that people are becoming so distrustful of everyone because of the deluge of ads we get and the fact that we are by our nature not trustworthy. It is best to let your website or blog be transparent.
Since writing the post where I reported that roughly 25% of us are willingly and openly petty thieves, I found another article at FastCompany that says we are regularly dishonest.

As the market has shifted the buyers and sellers are starting to question the ethical and legal responsibilities of the real estate agent.
Sunday's LA Times investigates this question. In a price sensitive market often the best price gets sold. However, this can cause a difficulty for the honest agent who is merely trying give an honest opinion of value and marketability of a home. Perhaps the seller might think the agent a sheister.

So what if I was tell you that I know of this investor who is buying up property all over Orange County-The O.C.?
You say that this guy is nuts right? Would you believe they are buying it up by the thousands of units?
Well The Irvine Company, as reported by the Wall Street Journal is buying thousands of apartments in Orange County and San Diego County as part of a $1.4 billion deal.
This when Orange County like much of So Cal is experiencing noticeable drops in sales volume.
Does The Irvine Co. know something that the Couch Investors do not?
And if you want to play devils advocate, no they are not buying the apartments for the outcast homeowners whom are at risk to lose their home. I have seen that rents down in the OC are holding steady if not going up in many areas.

Earlier today I was futzing in my log files and followed a link. I visited that site and was amazed that I was in the back console of the website. I had access to emails, editors, personal information. You name it.
I immediately took snap shots and sent them off to the owner of the site and the vendor.
Interestingly I have not received a reply from either.
This is pretty scary as this is the second time this has happened (that I took notice as I don't take all day clicking all my referral urls). And it was another vendor. I can tell you that both of these vendors are rather well known.
I believe he is probably alerted by email that my blog has been updated. So he followed the link and his visit left a path back to his console. He probably does that every time he follows a link from one of his emails.
Here is the letter I sent to the owner and vendor. Names and URLS are blotted for obvious reasons.
You do not know me, but I wanted to make you aware of a gaping security hole in your website. Apparently you visited my site (houseblogger.com), from your web interface.
It gave me a referral in my log files. As you can see right below:
So I followed the link as I often do to see where my traffic is coming from and I was inside your system. I am copying your vendor as I do not think that you wish this to be available to me or anyone else.
Anyway I just thought you should know and rest assured I did not touch anything other than to find your email address and to take a snapshot that you see below. If it makes you feel any better, this is the second vendor that I have seen this.
So be careful, and do what you can to check for this hole.
