A September poll by PNC Wealth Management says:
...nearly 60% of ultrahigh-net-worth investors are expressing optimism about their portfolios for the coming year..and 4% of investors with $10 million or more of investable assets surveyed expressed pessimism.."

Analysts predict the Fed will trim its key rate, now at 4.5 %, by one-quarter of a percentage point at that time. A few even speculate about the possibility of a half-point cut.

NAR says that the housing market is on the verge of stabilizing and and forecast sales will rise slightly in 2008 to 5.7 million, up from last month's prediction of 5.69 million. Lawrence Yun,Chief Soothsayer gave a positive outlook for job growth and the replacement of sub prime lenders to borrowers with weak credit with government-backed loans as reasons for the improved outlook.
"Despite over-exaggerated negative coverage on the housing conditions, many local markets are actually seeing price increases," Yun said at a press briefing. "Mortgage availability is improving"...housing"remains affordable in vast parts of the country" — particularly in the Midwest."

I just got off the phone with a colleague. He asked me why his "vanity property URL's" (122applestreet.com ) Does not get found in Google.
My reply was that Google or the other engines do not really consider a URL until it gets a link from somewhere that is indexed in Google.

People want to buy but often find the financing is a roadblock. Can You Remember Creative Financing? Get out those books!
According to the 2007 National Housing Pulse Survey from October, 59% of Americans think "now is a good time to buy".
Interestingly as I wrote in the December newsletter, I see this in the hundreds of log files of real estate websites. People are consistently coming to realty websites. But, it seems that their willingness to register as a lead is down. ( I believe that can be more than just a market driven thing, but it might be the freely available listings at verticals like Edgio, Trulia and such. Even smaller players like Picky Homes offers real estate listings without registration.)
