Green Dream Home
The Wired LivingHome combines high design with the latest in green technology. The 5bed 4 bath is from the minds of Wired MAgazine and the architectural firm LivingHomes.
In Brentwood,California the home is constructed out of eleven glass and steel prefabricated modules on a sloping canyon lot .The concept is to show that connectivity and sustainable living don't have to be mutually exclusive.
Some of the environmentally friendly materials make for a low carbon footprint:
- recycled materials including glass and steel
- redwood planks
- floors are made of bamboo
- walls are softened and warmed with coverings of hemp-and insulated with soybean fiber
- Furniture made from discarded margarine containers and recycled milk cartons
- A smart countertop range
- Every gallon of water and kilowatt of energy used in the house can be tracked on the Web
The price a modest $4.3 million. I guess only the Rich and famous can afford to conserve.
