Big Ecommerce sites have known for years that if you want to sell a product you put a happy human in front of it. And nothing sells like a pretty girl.
Well now there is evidence that it is best to point the pretty girls eyes at your product, or in your case your house.
How can you apply this:
- Your personal portrait should face the content of your site. In my case here (upper right of navigation) I am facing the content , but my eyes face you. Thus, I will be taking some snaps at various eye positions to center in the visitors attention.
- Forms. You can place a model on top of your form pointing down to the registration form with her eyes and even her gesture and hands.
- Featured listings. Use people in your MLS listings and Web shots and this will make the house show up apart from the crowd of other houses. Ecommerce studies have shown it best to show models using the product. So a child opening the refrigerator as the happy mom grabs a glass of water type of scene will help spark the viewers imagination. This type of scene can incite the senses much like the old closing question, "can you imagine your children playing in the backyard, while you prepare dinner on your barbecue?"
