If you have read any of HouseBlogger you know I am a bit of a curmudgeon on the whole Web 2.0 thing and Social Media and Blogs. This seems hypocritical I know. But, I am not against them, just the hype around these web 2.0 entities.
In fact, these platforms get lots of search engine spider activity and thus should be part of a marketing strategy. But these things are just words to describe platforms. And platforms are just software. And I am sorry I am not going to get too excited about my Outlook or Word Software programs. So why should I with a blog or social network?
But I do get excited over my using Word to pen a killer process for my company. Well, no scratch that, I don't really. As I can do that with 10 other software programs. I guess, it is just a tool, that serves me in accomplishing an end goal.
What you are reading is on a Typepad Software platform. It just as easily could have been done in Joomla, WordPress, and a ton of other free and paid blogging systems. It could have even been GULP! ...penned into a traditional website. So what?
Tweets, Facebooks, Linked Ins. They are cool and all, but is your prospect over there? Then why are you? I assume the answer is no. But you hope your future home buyer or seller will be there because you hope Google will find you there more easily and with less expense than a traditional website. And I got a lottery ticket to sell you.
Let's face it every trick is gone by the time you find out about it, because by the time you find out about it, don't you think Google has too? Can these platforms and Google be gamed sure, but not by just going out there and creating another Squidoo lens. You actually have to some work, which means it is no longer an SEO trick or shortcut, it is just another website that needs some content and link love.
Meanwhile, even the geeks are starting to admit that maybe this stuff is more for geeks than the general public:
From Life Hacker: How many people do you know outside your tech community that want to have 25 desktop applications live, running Firefox alongside with 10 tabs open, twittering 100 times a day, reading and commenting articles on Friendfeed, writing a blog post about it, starting riots to get traffic going, AND still have a normal day job and a life after that? I don't know anyone that fancies that kind of life.

Blog Commenting For Clients
Reading your post was like reading my own thoughts on put on the web. I run a successful agency and try serve my clients best by having a strong web presence. The problem is the time. I simply can not find the time to be a successful blogger and agent. I have tried tweeting, blogging from my phone, and even hired professionals.
While the pros were great and produced incredible content, I found it difficult to find RIO vs expenditure. I have settled on video blogging as the best solution. My clients seem to like the exposure and who doesn't want to be a star.
Like you we are all trying to get the best results in this market. Keep up the good work.
